Dating Dead Men

by Harley Jane Kozak

ONE LINE SUMMARY: Wollie tries to get approved to purchase her greeting card franchise while going through blind dates for a survey.

This is a terrific book, and I can hardly believe that this is Kozak’s first book. Funny, well-written, and well planned, the book is reminiscent of the best parts of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series.

The characters are unlikely to be people you’d meet in real life — for instance, Wollie is a greeting card designer and her brother P.J. is a schizophrenic — but Kozak has that rare ability to make each character fully formed and believable. I actually postponed finishing the book because I didn’t want it to end. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to put the sequel to this book on hold at the library because I can’t wait to read it.
