ONE LINE SUMMARY: May has a secret relationship with painter Sir Edward Burne-Jones, and her daughter Amy dies a tragic and young death.

This is an interesting biography of the author’s great-grandmother and great aunt (although I’m probably getting my geneology mixed up), but the book starts to drift after Amy dies, and when I realized that there are no finite answers to what happened. After all, everyone involved is dead, and the tantilizing bits and pieces of letters left behind only hint at what might have occurred.

Worth reading, but not if you read it like a mystery that needs to be solved by its end.
