2001 Chi-Fest: Food, Food, Food

Dot was the first dog I recognized, as she was cradled in mommy Deb’s arms. Also, the silver necklace around Dot’s neck was another big clue.

Strike a pose

Who else but an LA girl would have such lovely accessories?

At that, Her Royal Highness Swella’s head snapped up. Shouldn’t her servachi have made sure only she was wearing a special necklace around her royal neck this morning? Luckily, HRH Swella was too distracted by the royal duty of guarding her food bowls to reprimand her servachi.

The Head of Security, Chief Yoda, was busy skulking around behind Ricarda, and Second-in-Command Miss de Mina was examining the floor intently for crumbs, so clearly only Swella was available to protect the Royal Bowls. It was a difficult task, as there were at least 3 food bowls in various corners, and Swella had to keep up a brisk, though dignified, jog between the food stations to keep everything covered.

With so many black and white chis roaming through the crowd (Dot, Philippe, Diesel, Gonzalo, Consolata, Juan), it was unsurprising that HRH Swella opted to keep everyone away from the food rather than selectively allowing certain royal offspring access.

With their usual food supply cut off, the ravenously slender pups had to seek out a new source. Whoo-hoo, how lucky! Someone had put a crate down with food and water attached to the door. Gonzalo and Consolata crowded quickly around the crate. Man, this was good kibble.

Hmm, we'll just help ourselves...

Poor Paco, unfortunately, was forced to observe from a distance while these young upstarts gobbled down his food. Truthfully, he didn’t much care for his kibble, but they looked so happy munching it that he wondered if maybe–just maybe–it was actually hamburger disguised as kibble? He would have liked to investigate, but the puppies were too much for his timid soul.
